The SLE-CVD Calculator

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Traditional risk calculators often underestimate the risk of CVD for SLE patients likely because they do not account for SLE-specific factors like disease severity.

To address this gap, we developed SLECRISK, a personalized tool that integrates SLE-related variables such as disease duration, specific autoantibodies, and organ involvement, in addition to traditional CVD risk factors.

Compared to standard models, SLECRISK is more sensitive, identifying over three times as many high-risk patients, particularly young women with severe SLE who might otherwise be overlooked.
